About the Monroe Salt Works Pottery Collection Monroe Salt Works Pottery is handmade in rural Monroe, Maine. The forest and wild animals of the area inspire many of the designs we offer. Traditionally kiln fired in 15th century fashion, handfuls of rock salt are thrown into the white hot kiln allowing the shimmering fire to glaze every piece in a unique way. It is this variation that makes salt glaze pottery so rich and dynamic. Monroe Salt Works pottery is of the highest quality and we proudly stand behind it. The handles are comfortable, the lips generous and the sizes ample. Our pottery is very durable and is oven proof, microwave and dishwasher safe.
